Arsenal identify 43yo as Mikel Arteta's future successor, agent has received signals - report

Arsenal have identified Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi as a potential successor to Mikel Arteta, according to Tuttosport.

The north London giants have had a tremendous Premier League campaign and they are currently eight points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table.

The club have a genuine chance of ending their 19-year title drought and it remains to be seen whether they can withstand the challenge from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Amidst this, Tuttosport have published a surprise story where they have linked De Zerbi with Arsenal.

The Italian publication reveal that De Zerbi’s representative Edoardo Crnjar has already received signals from the Gunners over the managerial role.

If Arteta were to leave the club in future, it is claimed that De Zerbi has been earmarked as a possible successor.

The 43-year-old only joined Brighton in September last year but interested clubs can release him from his contract by triggering his €13 million release clause.

Arsenal unlikely to part ways with Arteta anytime soon

Arteta took over the managerial role at Arsenal more than three years ago. The Spaniard has been backed by the hierarchy during difficult times along the way.

The club are now reaping rewards with their excellent Premier League campaign and fans will be hoping that they can end the season on a high with title glory.

Hence, there is no reason why Arsenal would contemplate a change and any future decision to part ways could depend on Arteta. He may opt for a fresh challenge.

As things stand, everything is going as per plan. Arsenal are on the ascendancy under Arteta and we won’t be surprised if the Spaniard is handed a new deal soon.
