Report: Arsenal Agree Pre Contract With Aston Villa Super Star Douglas Luiz" As star set To Become First Arsenal January Signing
What insiders close to the deal are now saying about Arsenal signing Douglas Luiz in January
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window, but transfer insiders don’t think it will happen.
The Gunners are expected to prioritise their midfield in the winter window. They need a new man next to Declan Rice in the middle of the park, and they are rumoured to be interested in a few top midfielders. Luiz is one of them.

Arsenal‘s interest in Douglas Luiz dates back to over a year ago.
The Gunners tried to sign him on deadline day in last year’s summer transfer window, but Aston Villa stood firm and managed to keep him in the end.
Mikel Arteta‘s interest in Luiz hasn’t gone away. Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Brazilian in recent weeks, but once again, the deal is very difficult to complete.
Villa are in a much stronger position now than they were last year, and Luiz will cost considerably more than what he would’ve been available for 14 months ago.
TeamTalk share the latest on the situation, and insiders close to the deal are ‘dismissing’ an Arsenal move for Luiz in January because of the finances involved.

Their stance is the same with respect to Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, who has also been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
So, as things stand, Luiz is extremely unlikely to join Arsenal in January.

Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi are both hugely important players for Aston Villa and Real Sociedad respectively, so it was always going to be difficult for Arsenal to sign either of them in the middle of the season.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of other midfielders as well, and many of them are much easier to get in the January transfer window than Luiz and Zubimendi.
Arthur Vermeeren is a huge talent and he is a target, while the Gunners are also said to be interested in Pablo Maia of São Paulo. Kalvin Phillips could also be an option if Manchester City are prepared to sell him to their Premier League title rivals.
Ruben Neves has also been linked with a move to the Emirates, and he’d be a superb signing if Edu can get him on loan until the end of the season.
